Owens told the Associated Press that he proved last season that he won't be a distraction, Paul Posluszny citing the lack of drama surrounding him during his one year with the Buffalo Bills.
However, Owens was too quiet on the field, too, with unimpressive production.
He says that wasn't entirely his fault considering there was a coaching change and injuries on the Donte Whitner offensive line and insists he's still an elite wide receiver.
Owens, who recently ripped ESPN for criticizing him and, according to him, hurting his reputation, said he's concerned that teams now regard him as disruptive and are shying away from signing him because of that reputation.
Despite reports to the contrary, Owens denied having Marshawn Lynch unrealistic salary demands.
If necessary, Owens said he'll wait until after training camp to sign with someone.
On his reality show, he contemplates retiring after the Bills didn't retain him.
It sounds like he's determined to play.
As any businessman with a passion for success might be expected to do, a young Steinbrenner would often come to Buffalo to connect with the businesses that used his ships and to keep them happy. If that meant owning a restaurant (the old Round Table on Delaware Ave.) or just rubbing shoulders with Buffalo blue bloods, Steinbrenner
would do it. Many times those conversations would turn to sport and Steinbrenner loved sports certainly more than either he or LeBron James loved Cleveland.
That was the genesis of it all. Steinbrenner never lived in Buffalo, but he came here, a lot, and he made friends and entertained them a lot and even when he became owner of the New York Yankees, he never forgot his friends. Steinbrenner, largely from behind the scenes, advised the Knox family and attorney Bob Swados regarding the behind-the-scenes mindset of baseball and he quietly advocated for their getting the franchise that eventually went to Montreal (and failed).
He often discussed the possibility of moving his Triple A affiliate here (though a suitable plan never could be worked out) and he was a huge supporter of
Buffalo Bills jerseys football and Buffalo Sabres hockey (especially given his relationship with the Knox family).
